International Biodiesel Day is held on August 10. The day also honours the research experiments by Sir Rudolf Diesel who ran an engine with peanut oil in the year of 1893. This event in the first decade of the month August is annual.

On August 10, 1893, in Augsburg, Germany, Rudolf Diesel showcased the prime model of his engine fueled by peanut oil. That is why August 10 has been declared as the official date for International Biodiesel Day.
Biodiesel has the highest energy balance of any fuel – Not only is biodiesel one of the more environmentally friendly fuels because of what it's made of, but also because of the fact that compared to any other fuel, it has the highest energy balance.
The United States is the world's largest bioethanol producer. Each year, more than 22 billion gallons of fuel ethanol are produced. Most gasoline and diesel fuels in North America and Europe are blended with biofuel.
