The Nuclear Regulatory Authority (ARN) celebrates the National Atomic Energy Day, in commemoration of the National Atomic Energy Commission (CNEA) created on May 31, 1950.
The CNEA was created by Decree N°10936/50, which established the executive functions of coordinating and stimulating atomic research, as well as controlling the atomic activities developed in the Argentine Republic.
In 1997, the National Nuclear Activity Law and its Regulatory Decree No. 1390/98 established the competences, functions and legal regimes of the CNEA and the ARN, constituting the main background of the legal regulatory framework for the use and development of nuclear technology and the peaceful applications of nuclear energy in the country.
