31 May - Mathematician's Day
On May 31 is commemorated the Mathematician's Day, because on this date died Évariste Galois, French mathematician who was born in 1811 and died in 1832, that is to say that he lived only 21 years, but despite his young age, he achieved great advances in the field of abstract algebra, and that is why he is considered one of the most outstanding mathematical geniuses of the nineteenth century.
Precisely, to honor the work done by Galois, Mathematician's Day is celebrated every May 31, however it is on March 14 that is celebrated the day of the number Pi or day of mathematics, this after the approval of the U.S. House of Representatives in 2009, and that in November 2019, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization declared as International Mathematician's Day.
In turn, the International Mathematician's Day, this recurring event, is proclaimed by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and co-organized with the International Mathematical Union (IMU), will be celebrated in more than 100 countries worldwide.
