On June 2, National Volunteer Firefighter Day is celebrated nationwide in Argentina to commemorate the founding of the first volunteer fire station in La Boca.
Its story began on June 2, 1884, when, after a raging fire in La Boca, a man named Thomas Liberty and his son organized a human chain with a group of residents of the area to put out the flames, which threatened to quickly spread to neighboring buildings. So this event marked the beginning of the creation of the first Volunteer Fire Department, which today also celebrates its holiday.
