The victory in October 1973 is the most important event in Egyptian history in the second half of the 20th century, and the first Arab military victory over Israel, as is believed in Egypt. It will always be for them a kind of vivid sign in the history of victories and a discourse of Arab solidarity. The Arab nation was united in an unprecedented way, reflected in the symbolic participation of Arabs in the ranks of the Egyptian and Syrian fronts and the use of oil weapons, along with the moral and material interaction of Arab peoples with campaigns to support the war effort. All this coincided with the unity of the Arab position in the fields of political and diplomatic struggle.
The will to resist was characteristic of the period since 1976 and they recall with pride the success of the Egyptian navy in sinking the Israeli destroyer Eilat on October 21, 1976 and the beginning of the Egyptian plan to destroy the Parliff line in a war of attrition, overseen by General Abdul-Moneim Riad, commander in chief of the war of armed forces.
