The celebration of Secretary's Day on September 4 is worldwide, but each country celebrates it on different dates: in Argentina and Uruguay it is celebrated on September 4. In Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Panama, Bolivia and Peru it is celebrated on April 26. Venezuela and Brazil celebrate it on September 30 and Mexico on June 16.
Secretary's Day is celebrated every September 4, but the history of how it came about is not very clear. Its origin is shrouded in mystery and has never been proven, but it is curious nonetheless. According to the story, in the 19th century, during the second stage of the Industrial Revolution, Christopher Sholes invented the typewriter and his daughter Lilian Sholes was one of the first people to test the effectiveness of the invention.
The woman used it to write in public and thus became the first to practice typing. Years later, that date was chosen to remember that historic day and then each country established its own Secretary's Day.
