The commemoration of the Argentine Archivist's Day was instituted by the Argentine Archivist Association as a tribute to the General Archive of the Nation, created as an entity of the Province of Buenos Aires by Governor Martín Rodríguez on August 28, 1821. To coincide with this date, professionals in the area in Argentina celebrate their day.
The Province of Mendoza, by Decree 2474 of October 26, 1990, adheres to this celebration and establishes a holiday on August 28 of each year for all the technical, administrative, service, and master staff working in the Historical Archive, now the General Archive of the Province.
