Today, as every July 20 since 2017, is celebrated the Day of the Engineer in El Salvador or National Day of the Salvadoran Engineer. A date whose objective is to commemorate the various branches of engineering and their work for society.
This date was officially recognized last 2017, when the Legislative Assembly of the Republic of El Salvador approved by decree n 739 that every July 20 would take place the celebration or commemoration of that profession.
Although this date has recently become official, it all started over 90 years ago, when on December 26, 1929 the Salvadoran Association of Engineers (ASIA) was constituted in El Salvador and later, on July 20, 1949, the act of constitution of the Pan-American Union of Associations of Engineers was signed, an event that set the date for this celebration.
