Certified Public Accountants celebrate their professional holiday all over the world, but not on the same day. Accountants' Day of the Americas was established on May 17 to commemorate the first "Inter-American Accounting Conference," which opened in 1949 in San Juan de Puerto Rico with 168 delegates from 14 countries, and is celebrated as National Accounting Day in: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Panama, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Uruguay.
