On October 31 is celebrated the day of the Coat of Arms, one of the National Symbols of Ecuador that was officially adopted by the Congress of 1900, achieving its implementation in the presidency of General Eloy Alfaro Delgado, on November 7 of the same year. Days later, on December 5, the decree was published in the Official Registry.
The parts that make up the National Coat of Arms are: a Golden Sun, Oval, Signs of the Zodiac. There is also Chimborazo, one of the highest mountains of the Andes under a blue sky, from where the Guayas River rises, symbolizing the brotherhood among all Ecuadorians. A steamboat crosses the wide part of the river, alluding to the first steamboat built on the Pacific coast, in the shipyards of Guayaquil, symbol of navigation and commerce.
