Ecuador National Anthem Day
Ecuador National Anthem Day is held on November 26. This event in the third decade of the month November is annual. Help us
Its authors were the ambateño poet Juan León Mera Martínez and the French musician Antonio Neumane Marno. The first created the lyrics and the second composed the music, on November 14, 1865.
In later years, other political and literary figures of the time presented new proposals for the patriotic symbol. However, the lyrics and the musical piece by Mera and Neumane prevailed.
A century later, in 1965, the Military Government Junta decided by executive decree to declare November 26th as National Anthem Day. Since then, the date is commemorated annually.
On March 11, 1977, the Supreme Council of Government decreed the suppression of the singing of the first, third, fourth, fifth and sixth stanza of the national melody. This in order to make it less extensive and encourage Ecuadorians to sing it correctly.
