The Lachmesse Leipzig is Germany's largest cabaret festival and an annual highlight for all fans of humor and satire. Since 1991, over 90 renowned ensembles and artists have performed in 14 guest venues over 8 days every October. It offers a variety of events focusing on cabaret and satire.
The festival brings together international artists of all genres, promotes encounters, mutual acquaintance and intellectual exchange. The organization of the festival pays particular attention to regularly inviting Eastern European artists and an equal number of East and West German artists. Leipzig cabarets traditionally present their current programs at the Lachmesse.
