Rail Day is a nationwide day full of rail-related activities and events and took place for the first time on September 16 and 17, 2022. The federal government, federal states, regional authorities, associations and companies in the rail industry are jointly proclaiming Rail Day to inspire customers and professionals with the climate friendliness, future orientation and diversity of the railways.
More than 300 events were held throughout Germany on Friday and Saturday and, according to initial estimates, more than 50,000 people took part. After this successful start, it is clear that Rail Day is to be established as a permanent institution.
There is no central organizer for Rail Day. The Day of Rail is based on many decentralized activities. All interested companies, local authorities, associations, clubs and other institutions are called upon to develop their own ideas for Rail Day and to plan and carry out their own campaigns and events.
