Poet's Day in Colombia

In commemoration of those who, through poetry, make every fiber of our being tremble, the Day of the Poet is celebrated every October 4th in Colombia. A poet expresses his feelings, emotions and ideas through emotive verses and Colombia is said, with thousands of reasons, to be a land of true poets.

Although the International Poetry Day is celebrated every March 21 proposed by Unesco, in Colombia today was chosen as the day on which it is remembered.

In a local perspective, Tolima has been cataloged as one of the most representative departments in writing and poetry, with a large number of writers, of important importance, who have been recognized not only in this country, but also worldwide, for their empirical skill with the pen, paper and the magic of each story.
