This March 18 is celebrated as Telephone Workers' Day (Día del Trabajador de las Telecomunicaciones) in commemoration of the homonymous day in 1948 when General Juan Domingo Perón nationalized the provision of the service in the national territory and the Empresa Mixta Telefónica Argentina (E.M.T.A.) was incorporated to the State.
However, due to the crisis that hit the country in 2001, the celebration was interrupted because of the loss of benefits in the union until it was resumed again a few years ago thanks to the importance of the recognition of these workers.
That is why today, the Federación de Obreros, Especialistas y Empleados de los Servicios e Industria de las Telecomunicaciones de la República Argentina, among other associations, celebrate the Telephone Workers' Day on a day that commemorates all those people in charge of managing calls in a company as well as managing a switchboard.
