Mini-skirts Day
Mini-skirts Day is held on March 4. The creator of mini-skirts is considered to be Englishwoman Mary Coint - a British designer and fashion designer who introduced her in 1965. Even micro-skirts have appeared since the mid-1960s. The whole difference is how to wear them. This event in the first decade of the month March is annual. Help us
Contrary to obvious and popular belief, Quant named the garment after the Mini Cooper, a favourite car of hers, stating that the car and the skirt were both "optimistic, exuberant, young, flirty", and complemented each other.
The miniskirt was an extraordinary phenomenon and had a big impact because it was part of the emerging youth culture of the 1960s and it was very much an expression of that youth culture and also of the beginnings of the sexual liberation movement due to the invention of the birth control pill.
The invention of the miniskirt dates back to 1963 when it appeared for the very first time on the window of the historic London shop "Bazaar" thanks to Mary Quant, British designer to whom the invention of the miniskirt is attributed and who has anticipated the birth of the English street-style.
