The popular cocktail is known throughout the world and deserves more than a passing mention. Piña Colada is the national drink of Puerto Rico, a US state, since 1978.
It wasn’t until 1954 that the drink was brought back to life, Bartender Ramon “Monchito” Marrero is now cited as the drinks official inventor. Ramon worked on the definitive recipe for months in an attempt to encapsulate the essence of Puerto Rico before settling on the Pina Colada.
The blueberry harvest begins in early to mid-July. Pick Blueberries Day is celebrated on July 10 every year and it's the perfect time for this activity as the day falls in the summer.
Native to North America, blueberries are delicious, healthy and nutritious. Over 90% of all blueberries are grown in North America. The U.S. is the world’s largest producer of blueberries.
