National Environmental Awareness Day in Argentina
National Environmental Awareness Day in Argentina is held on September 27. This event in the third decade of the month September is annual.
Law 24,605 of 1995 declared September 27 as National Environmental Awareness Day in commemoration of the tragedy that occurred on that date in 1993 in the city of Avellaneda, province of Buenos Aires, due to a hydrogen cyanide gas leak.
On this date, the National Agrifood Health and Quality Service (Senasa) recalls that ecosystems provide with a series of services, conditions and processes through which natural ecosystems, and the species that make them up, help maintain and satisfy human life. They also maintain the provision of goods whose harvesting and commercialization represent an important part of the economy.
