Sociologist's Day in Argentina
Sociologist's Day in Argentina is held on June 1. This event in the first decade of the month June is annual.
It has been commemorated on June 1 since 2002, after the Council of Professionals in Sociology made it official by resolution No. 55/2002, through publication in the Official Gazette of the Argentine Republic. The day was chosen to commemorate the creation of the first Chair of Sociology in Argentina, which was taught in 1898 by Dr. Antonio Dellepiane at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires.
Building the profession involves a reflective exercise - of socio-analysis - where the social background, ideologies, political sympathies, beliefs and previous capital of those who venture into this science will always intersect with what happens inside the institutions that train sociologists.
