Lempira Day (Día de Lempira), a cultural civic festival, the Honduran people commemorate the Lenca hero on July 20 of each year. The Lempira Indian is considered one of the characters who fought the most for the Honduran homeland and territory.
On July 20, the day of Lempira, "El Señor de la Sierra", is commemorated in Honduras. Lempira fought to defend his people from the Spanish conquest, he fought tirelessly to maintain the freedom of his people, until according to history he was treacherously killed.
The tradition of this important civic festival is the parades and exhibitions of Lenca crafts. The election of "beautiful India" is also made where many girls compete for their beauty and the beautiful traditional costumes.
