On July 9, 1816, in San Miguel de Tucumán, 29 representatives of our people concluded the emancipation process that had begun in May 1810. That day, the Congress of the United Provinces, affirmed the will to "invest in the high character of a free and independent nation from King Ferdinand VII, his successors and metropolis” and “from all other foreign domination”.
In 1816, two extremely important events occurred for our history: the signing of the Act of independence of the United Provinces in South America and the organization of the continental plan of General José de San Martín, which consisted of seeking the freedom of Argentina, Chile and Peru.
The declaration of independence, along with the May Revolution, are the founding milestones of Argentina.
