On Dec. 27, 1947, after 18 months of work by the Constituent Assembly, the Provisional Head of State, Enrico De Nicola, signed the Constitution of the Italian Republic, which went into effect on Jan. 1, 1948.
March 17 marks the "Day of National Unity, Constitution, Anthem and Flag." A great celebration of the day when the Kingdom of Italy was proclaimed more than 150 years ago.
March 17, 1861, the landing place of a long and difficult path of national unification and at the same time the beginning of common History. The anniversary was established as a civil holiday on Nov. 23, 2012 by Law No. 222, with the aim of remembering and promoting the values of citizenship and reaffirming and consolidating national identity through civic memory.
