On February 1st, National Texas Day recognizes the Lone Star State along with its fierce record of independent people and history. The 28th state may not be the only state with a record of being a republic, but their dramatic revolution and fight for independence keep Texas history alive.
National Texas Day is February 1, and while no significant event or key moments are attached to the day, it was first celebrated in 2017 after it was created online. At first, this holiday was considered unnecessary, and however, the holiday is still regarded as another day to celebrate the Lone Star State.
On February 1, 1861 a group of Texas delegates declared the state's secession from the Union, but the state wasn't officially granted succession until February 23, 1861.
