Educator's Day in Argentina

This day is an opportunity to reflect on the noble task of educating, since a person can be a teacher of different disciplines but is, above and beyond that specialty, an educator.

Every September 17, "Educator's Day" (Día del Profesor) is celebrated in honor of José Manuel Estrada, Argentine educator, writer and intellectual who died on a day like today but in 1894.

Born on July 13, 1842 in Buenos Aires, Estrada was not only a teacher but also a historian, orator, writer, journalist and one of the most outstanding intellectuals of his time.

At the age of 24 he began his career in teaching and in a short time his Lecciones de Historia de la República Argentina (Lessons on the History of the Argentine Republic) became a book.

His passion for transmitting and teaching to build knowledge also recognizes the importance of continuous training, reflection on his own teaching practice and the need to adapt to changes.
