Farmers' and agricultural producers' Day is celebrated in Argentina with the aim of highlighting the role that the protagonists of production have on a key aspect such as food.
Farmers' Day originated on September 8, 1856, when the first agricultural colony was founded in the province of Santa Fe, in the town of Esperanza.
Meanwhile, the formal beginning of the Farmer and Agricultural Producer's Day in Argentina was on August 28, 1944, when decree Nº 23.317 was sanctioned, which established the day of homage, taking as a starting point the first colonizing enterprise carried out in 1856 in the city of Esperanza.
As it is remembered, the first agricultural colony was led by Don Aarón Castellanos, during the governorship of José M. Cullen. There were 1162 settlers who, on September 8, took possession of the assigned plots of land.
