On September 4, Bolivia celebrates the National Day of Comprehensive Sexual Education, an important date to highlight the relevance of this permanent and dynamic educational process, which promotes the integral development of the human being and contributes to social and community development.
Comprehensive Sexual Education (CSE) promotes human rights, fostering equality between men and women; it allows the internalization of values without stereotypes in a framework of equity, self-care and care for others; it also promotes equal rights and positive attitudes in addition to preventing psycho-affective health problems, improving people's living conditions.
Experience shows that CSE is one of the most effective strategies to prevent teenage pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections and even gender-based violence, even more so when a rights-based approach is adopted and psychosocial skills of adolescents and young people are promoted to achieve a dignified life, ensuring that both women and men can exercise their reproductive rights in a full, healthy and responsible manner.
