The Bolivian Army established September 9 as "Bolivian Soldier's Day", as a just tribute of recognition to the heroic defenders of Boquerón during the Chaco War (1932-1935)" several activities were carried out in the department in the different regiments.
Soldiers from different parts of Bolivia participated in the war; from the valleys, the highlands, the east, the Chaco, the countryside and the city. Boquerón was a fierce fight where the troops, the soldiers showed an unforgettable heroism, the Bolivian soldier showed his heroic courage and bravery never seen in the republican life.
It is a special day for the Bolivian Army, we remember "that anonymous, courageous, brave soldier" who left his mother, his family, his children to offer his life, "so that we can be free, independent and sovereign".
That date was chosen because on a day like today (September 9, 1932), in the hot sands of the Chaco, the Bolivian soldiers began to write one "of the great epics that the Army starred in".
