The term BookTube comes from the words Book and Tube (from "YouTube").
BookTube refers to the community of YouTube content creators who make and upload videos related to books. The videos generally follow specific formats, often based on "bookish" culture and lexicon. In addition, most of the content focuses on Young Adult literature, but other literary genres can also be found, albeit less frequently.
Within the community, there are booktubers with a certain impact, as there is usually a direct interaction between the booktuber and the consumer of the video. To begin your journey as a BookTuber, you must first set up a YouTube channel. Thus, this influence is leveraged by the publishing industry to promote their publications.
Although it may not be possible to pinpoint when this phenomenon emerged, the community has been growing and expanding in different parts of the world.
In addition, due to the reach they have in the influence on reading, it was decided to commemorate the Booktubers with the International Booktuber's Day celebrated on August 22 each year.
