This date is associated with the Faculty of Chemical Engineering (FIQ) of the Universidad Nacional del Litoral (UNL), for being the first university to offer the Chemical Engineering degree in Argentina and in South America. Since 1920 argentines celebrate every July 1st the day of the Chemical Engineer in commemoration of the first class given in Argentina.
The presence of the chemical engineer in society can be seen in areas such as production, process and quality control, industrial safety, technical-legal support, and ecology. In short, it is a matter of planning, designing, constructing and controlling units to reduce the polluting impact of man.
