Argentine Historian's Day

A historian is a person who writes or describes the history of past civilizations or past events. To do so, he or she may narrate it by voice or by writing it down in newspapers, books, etc. A historian needs to know firsthand how the past happened in order to narrate it so that others can understand what happened in another era.

The Historian's Day is commemorated every year on July 1 in order to honor all those writers, researchers, etc. who every day strive to spread the events of the past. In 2002, the Congress of the Argentine Nation declared the Historian's Day to be celebrated every year on July 1st. This date recalls the day on which the First Triumvirate wrote down the events of the May Revolution and thus perpetuate the memory of the children of South America at the time of civil independence.
