Children's Day (Día del Niño) is an international commemoration of the Declaration of Universal Principles for Children, whose mission is to give them dignity and protect them from abuse. This date is one of the most awaited by the children of the house, because it is usual that on this day they are given a gift or a family activity is held.
In Chile the official date of Children's Day is the third Wednesday of October. This is established by Decree 1110 of 1976, considering that there are several days in which citizens pay homage to those loved ones who are an integral part of the family or who are closely linked to it.
It is worth mentioning that, the Supreme Decree indicates that this holiday should be celebrated during the third Wednesday of October, but its date was changed to August, since this month is related to the promulgation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and also, it is accommodated in the weekend for commerce in general.
