On the occasion of the birthday of the President of the Republic who founded the National Polytechnic Institute, Lázaro Cárdenas del Río, May 21 was established as the day on which this educational institution is celebrated. And it is that Cardenas del Río had as its main objective that the National Polytechnic Institute attend to the technical-industrial needs of the country.
Its founders conceived the Polytechnic as an engine for development and a space for equality; supporting, on the one hand, the country's industrialization process and, on the other, providing educational alternatives to all social sectors, especially the least favored.
