A health unit coordinator is typically an entry-level health care professional who serves as the first line of communication in a medical unit. These professionals work diligently to keep doctors, nurses, and other medical staff organized and on top of their workflow. In essence, they do all the little things that keep a unit running, and if they’re doing a great job, you may never even notice. The last week of August is nationally recognized as a time to celebrate Health Unit Coordinators, the professionals in the health care industry who manage a facility’s administrative operations and make everyone’s lives easier.
