Bolivia has its own Friendship Day, which is celebrated on July 23. Although the date originated in an advertising campaign by a greeting card company (Inspiración Cards), Bolivian citizens adopted the custom of exchanging cards to celebrate Friend's Day. Its antecedent is the World Friendship Crusade that was established in Paraguay on July 30, 1958.
The idea of Inspiración Cards was inspired by the initiative of the Argentine Enrique Ernesto Febbraro, after the arrival of man on the moon. Although with the advent of the Internet the printed postcard business has lost market share, every July 23 Bolivians enthusiastically maintain the tradition by sending virtual greeting cards through social networks.
