Burkina Faso Republic Day

Burkina Faso Republic Day is held on December 11. The day when Upper Volta became an autonomous republic in the French Community in 1958. This event in the second decade of the month December is annual.

Thomas Sankara, a Burkinabe military officer, Marxist revolutionary and pan-Africanist president, is often referred to as the “African Che Guevara” due to his radical left-wing policies. He was President of Burkina Faso from his coup in 1983 until his deposition and mysterious death in 1987.
