On the night of September 26-27, 1939, in besieged Warsaw, the Service for Poland's Victory was established (Służbę Zwycięstwu Polski). The task of this underground military organization was to fight the occupant.
The Day of the Underground Polish State was established by a resolution of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland on September 11, 1998. It expressed special gratitude and respect to the creators, devoted activists of the underground structures of the Polish State, as well as to all those who, in extremely difficult conditions, risked their own lives, fought for the independence of the homeland .
