Every year, June 22nd is celebrated as Teacher's Day in El Salvador. This day is celebrated because on June 22, 1890, General Francisco Menéndez Valdivieso, the main promoter of the teacher's dignity and main reformer of Salvadoran education, died. It is worth mentioning that Francisco Menéndez was president of El Salvador between 1885-1890.
