The President of the Republic of Liberia, Her Excellency Mrs. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has issued a proclamation declaring, Thursday, May 14, 2009, as National Unification Day,and is to be observed throughout the Territorial Confines of the Republic as a National Holiday. The Proclamation is in consonance with the Act passed in 1959/1960 Session by the Legislature declaring the 14th Day of May of Each Year as National Unification Day of the Republic of Liberia.
Sometimes called "Integration day", this day marks the Unification and Integration Policy, which was aimed at tackling political, social and economic disparities with the country.
