Lebanon's education sector, valued throughout the Middle East as a regional leader, was once ranked tenth in the world, according to the World Economic Forum's Global Competitiveness Report. According to 2019 statistics, distributed across 1,256 schools, Lebanese public school students number 328,040 (of which 264,364 are Lebanese), representing 30.7% of the pre-K public school population. As for teachers, there are a total of 43,532, including 20,908 full-time teachers, 20,739 part-time teachers, and 885 volunteers (those who teach religion), meaning there is one teacher for every 7.5 students.
