Every year on the last Saturday in May in a small German town Oberkircher, located in Baden-Württemberg, a delicious and fun festival - Strawberry Festival or Erdbeerfest is held. Events start at the end of May and last two days. Strawberries are everywhere during the festival, but most of them are to be found at the Mittelbaden wholesale fruit market. Germany's largest wholesale strawberry market is located here, so it's no surprise that this delicious berry festival, which dates back to 1999, takes place in this very city.
Traditionally, the Strawberry Festival begins on Saturday morning with a speech by the mayor of Oberkirch, who congratulates the residents and guests of the city and announces the opening of the festival. Then there are fairs, presentations, master classes, tastings, concerts, fashion shows, dance shows and theatrical performances at the many festival venues.
