7 January - Christmas party in Moldova
Moldova celebrates Christmas on both December 25 and January 7. On January 6 the Orthodox Church celebrates Christmas Eve, the eve of Christmas. December holidays are very beautiful in Moldova.
Because Moldova is a mostly secular country, the main holiday is called "New Year" and is celebrated in the evening from December 31 to January 1. This is the main holiday.
In recent years, due to the opening of the country towards the West, "Catholic Christmas" is also celebrated on the night of December 24-25. Another holiday is "Orthodox Christmas" which is celebrated from January 6 to 7 (due to the difference in calendars, since the Orthodox Church follows the Julian calendar and the Catholic Church follows the Gregorian calendar).
Finally, on the night of January 13-14, a holiday called "Old New Year" is celebrated, i.e. the "New Year" according to the Julian calendar (which had been used before the October Revolution of 1917).
