On June 10, 1945, the National Road Safety Day was established due to the need to unify criteria, among them to change the direction of traffic in Argentina, since in America only in Uruguay and Argentina people used to drive on the left hand side, while the rest of the continent drove on the right hand side. This led to analyze the need of a change for the connection with other countries.
During the presidency of Edelmiro Farrell, an attempt was made to change the direction of traffic and reduce the number of road accidents due to the increase in the number of automobiles in the 1920s.
As a result of a strong campaign initiated by the Automóvil Club Argentino with the presentation of an elevated campaign on October 5, 1944, a new Urban Road Regulation was established, prohibiting for the first weeks a speed higher than 30 Km/h in cities, 40 Km/h in suburban areas and 50 Km/h on roads.
According to the latest report of the National Road Safety Agency, in 2018 there were 5,493 fatalities due to road incidents, an average of 15 deaths per day.
According to data published by official agencies, it can be seen that 85% of road accidents are a consequence of the human factor, including speeding, drunk driving and distractions among others (cell phone use, etc.).
For this reason, a commitment was made to carry out strong awareness campaigns to all sectors of society, offering different proposals to raise awareness in search of a better coexistence.
