Help us

Most of our planet is covered by oceans and Argentina, in particular, has a coastline of more than 5,000 kilometers -from the mouth of the Río de la Plata to the south of Tierra del Fuego- and a sea of more than 2,800,000 km2, to which we must add the surface of the continental shelf -which would bring the total to 4,200,000 km2-; while the national maritime component is one of the most productive in the world.
The development of sustainable activities in sea is a strategic objective, not only for Argentina, but also for the whole world. Present challenges that are projected into the future, such as climate change and the growing demand for food, call for active policies to care for and use waters in the most rational way possible.
In 1937, at the initiative of the Argentine Naval League, October 1st was established as the Sea and Fishing Wealth Day, due to the importance of the national maritime component, its economic and environmental relevance.
