Due to the insistent efforts made by the Pedro Vicente Maldonado Society and Dr. Israel Cruz Proaño, Assemblyman of Chimborazo, the National Assembly of Ecuador unanimously approved the resolution to declare September 11 as National Day of the Republic of Ecuador.
Every September 11, Ecuador commemorates the 'National Day of the Republic', date that marks the beginning of the Ecuadorian state with the signing of its First Constitution (1830). In this context, the National Assembly held its Solemn Commemoration Session and recognized ESPOCH and its rector, Byron Vaca Ph.D., as an institution and illustrious citizen, respectively.
The Solemn Session of the National Assembly was held at the Pedro Vicente Maldonado School, the place where the First Magna Carta of Ecuador was signed on September 11, 1830. The assembly members of the province of Chimborazo made the exaltation of the 'National Day of the Republic', remembering the importance of Riobamba in the foundation of the country.
