According to statistics from the Latin American and Caribbean Demographic Center (CELADE) - Population Division of CEPAL, "In the process of demographic transition in the region, the accelerated drop in fertility stands out, which was preceded by the sustained reduction of mortality since the end of the first half of the 20th century, which is reflected today in a life expectancy at birth of 75.2 years and a total fertility rate of 2 children per woman".
Law No. 369, General Law for Older Adults, in its Second Final Provision declares August 26 as the Day of Dignity of Older Adults throughout the territory of the Plurinational State of Bolivia; in turn, Supreme Decree No. 1807 that regulates the aforementioned Law, in its Sole Final Provision, determines that every August 26, public and private institutions that work with the older adult population, must carry out activities of recognition, awareness and promotion of their rights.
