The Congress of Deputies has commemorated this Day of Tribute to the Victims of Terrorism, a date that has been celebrated since 2010 when it was established by the then president of the Chamber, José Bono, as it was the anniversary of the first death caused by terrorism in Spain, the little Begoña Urroz.
On that day in 1960 a 22-month-old girl named Begoña Urroz Ibarrola was burned to death in a car as a result of an explosive device at the bus station in San Sebastian. Precisely, a study made public these days by the Victims of Terrorism Memorial Center documents that the girl died in an action of the Iberian Revolutionary Directorate of Liberation (DRIL) and not of ETA.
In recent years this ceremony has been held in different rooms of the Congress, such as the Constitutional Hall or the Salón de Pasos Perdidos.
