In the vast majority of Argentine universities, we teachers develop our work together with research, extension and transfer tasks, as a way of understanding commitment to teaching, learning and knowledge production.
This date was established as a recognition of the collective struggle that they, the teachers of the national universities, have been carrying out for years. This date commemorates the so-called "Correntinazo" of May 15, 1969, as part of the claims against the economic adjustments of the dictatorship presided by General Juan Carlos Onganía, in defense of accessible public education and the democratization of knowledge and the arts. This demonstration was harshly repressed and it opened different focal points of struggles all over the country with the university community as protagonist.
