Global Media and Information Literacy Week, commemorated annually, is a major occasion for stakeholders to review and celebrate the progress achieved towards Media and Information Literacy for All.
Media and information literacy are traditionally considered separately. According to the idea, the Global Media and Information Literacy Week should unite activists from different countries who consider media and information literacy an effective way to enhance intercultural dialogue.
The first celebration of the Global Media and Information Literacy Week took place in autumn 2012. It was initiated by UNESCO and supported by the Global Alliance for Media and Information Literacy Partnerships, the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and the International University Network for Media and Information Literacy and Intercultural Dialogue.
