Global Day of Action for Child Survival
Global Day of Action for Child Survival is held on October 23. This event in the third decade of the month October is annual. Help us
This day is part of a series of events of the EVERY ONE COUNTS campaign of Save the Children (a leading organization in the defense and promotion of the rights of children and adolescents, which emerged more than 90 years ago as a humanitarian response after World War I).
5.4 million children die every year before their fifth birthday, most of them from preventable causes such as pneumonia, diarrhea, complications during childbirth or malnutrition.
Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia have the highest mortality rates in the world, with one in 12 children dying before the age of five. Children suffer greatly as a result of war and violence; as victims of racial discrimination, apartheid, aggression, foreign occupation and annexation; refugee and displaced children, who are forced to leave their homes and roots, also suffer. In addition, malnutrition, lack of clean water and the spread of easily preventable diseases kill them every day. Thus, the goal of this campaign is to make the reduction of child and maternal mortality a political priority, as well as the mobilization of thousands of people in both rich and poor countries.
