On September 23, the National Day of Technical Level Professionals (Dia Nacional dos Profissionais de Nível Técnico), also known as Industrial Technician, is celebrated. The date was made official with the creation of law n.º 11.940, of May 19, 2009, which adopted this day as a notable reference to the signing of the decree creating 19 schools for apprentice craftsmen, by then president Nilo Peçanha, on 23 September 1909 – a milestone for the historiography of the profession.
According to data from the National Employment System, professionals with a technical and vocational education diploma are 48% more likely to get a job than professionals with only a high school diploma. In addition to being a factor of social transformation, which allows young Brazilians to enter the job market - the profession of industrial technician plays a decisive role in the economy and development of national industry, given the scope of its more than 70 technical modalities and the scenario of Industry 4.0.
